A couple questions about the USC alternate list...

Does anyone know if they will call or e-mail? I know they really like the whole e-mail correspondance thing, but I will be away from a computer (but with my cell phone) for a while this summer and wonder if I should be having my mom check my e-mail every day 🙄

Also, if you get accepted off the waitlist, let us know! I'd like to know when things get moving, and as people are accepted, the amount my chances are lowered as the summer goes on... 😛

Thanks! And good luck!

I would also appreciate any updated information on the USC wait list. Does anyone know if everyone who inerviewed and did not get accepted is on the wait list? in other words, any rejections?

Thank you for the help and hoping to figure out where I'll be starting in August!

There are a few posts in other USC threads on the forum of people who got rejected, though it does seem like less rejections than waitlists. Then again, the amount of people on SDN compared to the amount of applicants is far, far less anyway. Good luck! Hope to maybe see ya at USC in August.

Is anyone else put off by the 39K/year tuition? I mean, I loved USC and would love to get off the alternate list, but the tuition scares the crap out of me. What do you guys think?

It's been my first choice for years and the school I got into so far is about 41K/year, so right now tuition isn't a big deal. If you think about it, if you're gonna be taking out loans, there is no big difference in the long run of tuition, unless you have scholarships or are going to a public/state school. Between privates, a few thousand a year shouldn't be a big deal if you have to pay back student loans anyway. But hey, if you're willing to give up your waitlist spot, no problem with me ;-)

But still, please if someone can answer the original questions on the post (method of communication with waitlisters and movement) that would be wonderful! Thanks!

There are hardly any rejections, and really the people who get in are the ones who show that they love the school the most (most letters)

I'm pretty sure that if you are accepted off of the waitlist, you get a call from Dr. Quinn. I'm prrraaaaying for a call!!! =) gluck!

FYI= Got in off the waitlist today- phone call 5pm

any new updates on wait list movement?

There is a spot open since I declined my offer 🙁

I hope it you get the call.

Does anybody know how often they review the waitlist or how often they make calls?? All I want is to get in, this is killing me!!!

I called USC this morning to talk to Dr. Quinn and I just wanted to let you guys know that she is out of the country on vacation. So, I have a feeling the waitlist might not move too much in the coming week, but be patient because there is at least one spot that is open.

Good luck! :luck: :luck: :luck:

Yeah, thanks for the info!

I hope Dr. Quinn really enjoys her vacation so she'll come back in a happy mood and decide to let us all in

when do you guys think we will hear from USC. I talked to the admissions office and they mentioned that they only take 5 to 20 people off the waitlist every year. They also mentioned that they only have 100 people on the waitlist. As you guys know, they accept a lot of people like 250-280 for a class of 160 because they know that a lot of people will turn them down.

Does that mean that they accept 5 to 20 or that the class typically includes 5 to 20 people from the alternate list?

Allrighty...now that Dr. Quinn is back from vacation, any news? After this week I'm gonna have to actually start looking for apartments in St. Louis, where I really don't want to be...ugh, USC call all of us!!!!

You me, and everyone else posting on this thread. I have sent numerous 'love letters' to Keck and even had a professor send one on my behalf. Makes me think if any of it will actually help and if the waitlist is actually unranked.

If its REALLY unranked how do they decide? How can a list be unranked? Are all our names in a lottery and they just pick em out. Figure that there are 92 of us left on waitlist (school said 100 on list and they took 8 off the last time I checked) I wonder what our chances are if so many people on the forum are 'dying' to go to USC and are on the list.

But I guess we just have to wait. :scared:

the wait is driving me crazy they should let all of us in. i was wondering what schools people also got into who are on the waitlist at sc

I got into St. Louis University and I am waitlisted at NYMC

I feel the pain, the wait is making me crazy. I've wrote many letters, had another recomendation sent, called - yet nothing. I got into Ohio State and am waiting...., waitlisted at pitt and BU also.

I got into UCSD and i am waitlisted at UCLA and Hopkins

I'm pretty sure that Dr. Quinn is on vacation until the 9th of June, so it is doubtful that anything will happen before then

Looks like theres little hope for me and I'll be soon moving to the freezing tundra of the Northeast

Figured I'd make a list of people who have gotten off the waitlist (data from other posts as well) to see the sense of movement

Feel free to update this

what a great idea! thanks for doing it 👍

I was offered a spot on the wait list on May 13th. I declined. . .not because I didn't like the school (I loved it when I went to interview), but because I interviewed in October and did not hear anything at all until May 13th. I felt pretty ignored and didn't appreciate the waiting, but I felt compelled to get a decision--any decision! Good luck to you all, though. 🙂

edit: called USC they reconfirmed they usually take 20 people off the waitlist each year. Wouldnt tell me how many people are left or how many have been taken off. Did say that they are still waiting for people to make decisions (but who knows what that really means for us waitlisters.)

I've never been anxious about anything like I have been about this 😡 :scared:

in years past the USC waitlist thread was long...what's happenin this year?

No one else dying to go to USC like me?

I was wondering if you guys can give me some advice. I've sent numerous LO interests, a LO intent, and even had a professor send an addiotional update letter.

Unfortunately, I interviewed with Dr. Quinn and I personally think it was my worst interview out of all the other schools (I just think I made a horrible impression). I guess my 😍 for USC is blinding me and maybe I should just give up and stop going on SDN. But I was wondering if you guys think I should email Dr. Quinn(like send more letters) or if its time to just sit back passively and let everything takes its course (like too many letters might be a bad thing).

USC was my top choice from the beginning (and I'm a UCLA student) but so far I havent gotten much love back. Oh well 🙁

you'recracy--you are definitley not alone
i look for this thread but have not been posting. usc is deifnitely my number one choice, has been since the beginning of the process, and i totally fell in LOVE with the school during the interview day. if i dont get in i will have to move to HErshey, PA for Penn State...which I really don't don't don't want to do. I also interviewed with Dr. Quinn, and am DYING to get in! I wrote a letter of intent, and a quick email to Dr. Quinn after I foudn out I was waitlisted, and she said to just be patient. I don't know how patient to be or how much to do!

I hate sitting passively but i dont want to annoy the admissions staff. i wrote one letter of intent, is that not enough these days? its always kinda on my mind cuz i dont want to leave LA! My entire family is here, my bf is here, and I already went to the east coast for college, I am ready to stay here.

i think there are more of us crazy-USC-KEck-lovers out there, but not posting. DR QUINN PLEASE LET US IN!

Hey guys...

A few of you have mentioned that you wrote e-mails to Dr. Quinn. As convenient as e-mail is (and it seems like she does respond to e-mail which, admittedly, is nice), I think it is always much better to use snail mail in situations like this. I used snail mail for my 3 letters of interest (though one was before I even got an interview) and had a professor also send a new rec letter via US mail. To me, it seems more professional and more formal...not something easy you can whip up and send out. Perhaps you should try that approach if you are thinking of sending another LOI. It just shows more effort. I'm here to help if you want it, so please feel free to PM me (rerock, I hope I helped you out last time!!!) Good luck to you all!

Ya, I've actually wrote all my letters by snail mail for the same reason. Like you, one was also before I even got an interview. I just can't think of what else to write to USC, theres nothing left to update (in a formal format anyway). I was thinking I'd just send emails asking Dr Quinn questions (to show more interest) but I was wondering if that'd be even worth it. Who knows, I'm just stuck in a bad place right now. I guess I'll see what the next week brings in (maybe a special phone call :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: ).

I have dropped my USC alternate list spot. Maybe this will bring some slight hope or positive to this thread right now, even though it's not quite as good as dropping a spot in the class. Good luck to everyone waiting it out.

Thanks 🙂 , I think right now rerock and I (and some other waitlistees) will take any good news we can get.

I know bumping clutters the thread but I cant let this thread die.

Come on SC, call us waitlisters :luck: :luck:

I second that! Call us soon! Anyone have USC waitlist updates? Post here!

I've also been checking this thread religiously. USC is my top choice and I'm waiting for that call...come on Dr. Quinn!! If I hear anything I promise to post immediately!

hey, i was wondering if those of you who got off the waitlist at usc could tell some of us still waiting whether you did stuff like write LOI's, called, or whatever. I too, am waiting and wishing so badly to get in, and have done everything i can think of (two letters, an additional letter of rec, had the guy i do research for at usc to give a call... although i have no idea whether this would do anything at all), but now i just have no idea whether i should write another letter, or whether this is about time that i get a reality check and realize its just not gonna happen. im stuck on four waitlists with no acceptances, but ultimately would LOOOOOVE to stay here with my family, and join most of my friends who already go to usc. they got in through BAC/MD so they never had to go through waitlists and stuff like that, so i was wondering what you guys have done. im just going crazy here. good luck to everyone!!

Like you, I've also sent in numerous letters. I wrote several LOInterests/update letters, one LOIntent, I've also updated them with an additional LOR from my supervisor and 2 abstracts from publications I recently recieved (I work for a biotech company). I feel like I've done everything I can so at this point I am just plan on waiting.

yay! i just got off the USC waitlist yesterday!! (phone, 5pm) i think i'm still in shock...

good luck to the rest of you. i hope you get your calls from dr. q soon :luck: :luck:

congrats Jaseroque

DrET, I feel just like you do, theres not much more that I can do and wait, I've done all that I can. I just wish I knew how many people were left on the waitlist and how many more they are gonna take off (they say 25-30 of the class each year is waitlisters). So far just off SDN 7 people have been taken off (although we cant tell how it is representative of the whole waitlist), I'm wondering how are odds are now. Oh well, all we can do is hope for good :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck:

edit: maybe one of us should check how many people on the UCLA (and maybe other UCs) Waitlist thread are holding a spot at SC (I know of at least 2 waiting on UCLA). So I say we cross our fingers for them getting into UCLA and opening spots for us (it's a win, win situation) ---> C'mon UCLA :luck: :luck:

I know, I'm getting really desperate now 🙄
