I am debating a transfer, and I know it is probably a little crazy to transfer from my current school, as many have told me but, who cares I want to live on the west coast for a bit.

Anyways.. can anyone comment on their undergrad experiences at either University of Southern California or Pepperdine !?

Any information would be greatly appreciated! Pleaazzzee! 😀

hey
I'm not so sure about the "who cares" mentality...not to say that you haven't done your HW, but is there a compelling reason why people are telling you not to transfer?

That aside...
i didn't go to either school, however, if you're planning on going into the science/medical field, I'd go with USC. There are far more research/clinical opportunities compared to pepperdine. Not to mention the latter is a bit secluded in Malibu, so I'm not sure what medical experiences you'd get.

Just my opinion, but of course you have to consider how much you want to spend on tuition, future goals, etc.

Im saying "who cares" because while yes, the opportunities at my school are endless and it is hands down one of the best schools in the country and I can see why people would look at me in shock for wanting to transfer when really, I am just not happy in Boston anymore.

I have spent my entire life living in large cities on the east coast and really just want to spend some time on the west coast.

I see what you are saying about USC and agree, Pepperdine is quite secluded.

USC is good for gaining some clinical experience. From what I know, Pepperdine does not have a hospital near it.

But, Pepperdine does have a kickass view, while USC has no view.

so true, and Malibu is to die for. I also have a lot of hospital work already

come on guys, anything else????

if you don't want to be in big cities don't go to USC. it's in the heart of LA... some might call it in the heart of the ghetto, but i don't think it's that bad. on the other hand, usc girls are some of the hottest girls in the nation. be warned, they are snobby as .... ____

on the other hand, pepperdine is in malibu... it's actually not TOO far away from LA (about 30 minutes) so it's close enough to go to LA to party. however, you'll find that malibuians like to party too. plus youre living in malibu!!!

as for reputation, i think USC has a one up on pepperdine.

As hard as it is for me to say so as a former bruin, I would go to USC for pre-med. I went to USC for a post-bacc and my girlfriend who is at USC thought about transfering to Pepperdine her third year. She applied to Pepperdine and got in and we went to Pepperdine to talk to their pre-med counselor and pretty much found out it will be a lot more difficult to get into medical school from Pepperdine. The classes are harder there and it is very difficult to get great grades, and medical schools still don't give Pepperdine the credit for being a challenging place academically. So she decided to stay at USC. Based on personal experience and speaking to people at both schools, I would have to say USC. Of course, I would go to UCLA over USC anyday..haha.

But like the pervious poster said, USC is in the middle of the city and Pepperdine is out on a hill over malibu which gives you the small town secluded feel. Don't know how important that is to you.

Hope this helps!

Hmm, Thanks for all of your guy's feedback, I really appreciate it. 🙂
Im counting on not having trouble transferring from either school so, It is really just up to my choice but, ultimately I am leaning twoards USC. While I almost died when I drove past Pepperdine last weekend, Malibu is fun to go to the beach but I dont know if I could go to school there.

I love LA what can I say 😎

Now comes the hard part... moving across the county 😱

Good luck to ya! I am moving across the country too so I know how painfull it is..

it depends on your preference though........Pepperdine is much nicer in terms of living location because it is located in malibu...beautiful place and perfect weather year round, that's all i know, and it's party school so i dont think it's a good idea to go here if u want to focus on school.......i like usc while i was going there... nice school, good programs, the only thing i dont like is that it's located in downtown LA......
