Are these not required? I read that from the FAQ on the site

they say you can send one from the dentist you shadowed, but does that mean they dont want us sending the professor LOR's?

also, does that mean they base acceptance more on the academic things then?

They definitely require LoRs, and the requirements seem to be quite strict. And when they say non-lab professors for the letters, they mean it. There was one professor I had for a class but I also worked in his lab, he wrote me a letter, and that didn't cover the requirement. Point is, letters of recommendation are definitely required for USC.

can you link me to the letter of rec/admission info on their website?

I have been looking for it for quite some time and only saw this in the FAQ:

17) Do I need to send letters of recommendation?
Letters of recommendation are not required. If you have a letter of recommendation from a dentist whom you have shadowed or worked with, you can send it.

You are looking at their bachelor in dental hygiene program.

Two letters of recommendation are required from lecture-based science professors in the areas of biology, chemistry, or physics. A committee letter may be substituted if your undergraduate institution offers this service. One letter is also highly recommended from a dentist. Letters from research or lab based professors will not meet the requirement; the letters must be written based on your performance in the lecture component of class.
