Hi there -

Anyone know if it is ok to take "Introduction to Biochem" and "Principles of Mol Bio" (instead of just "Biochem" and "Molecular Biology" to fulfill USC's matriculation requirement for these classes? I'm in the app cycle now and need to finish these just in case I do end up there. These were the only classes I could find - given I have to attend night classes. I called USC and they said I would have to email "all questions regarding requirements" - none could be answered over the phone, so I thought I'd see if I'd get a quicker answer this way.

Thanks very much! Good luck to everyone...

I ended up having to email them because they were really unclear on the phone to me as well. I took a one semester biochemistry course that they said was fine. It wasn't called "Intro" but it was a 400 level class for biology and life science majors, not biochem majors. I can't help you on the molecular biology since they told me they needed "more information" to decide about my genetics class. My advice is to send them the email and copy the course descriptions into the email and see what they say. They took about a week to get back to me earlier in the fall but maybe they'll be quicker now its interview time and the applications are not pouring in. I know there are some USC students on SDN... maybe one of them can be more help. Good luck.

I think you will be fine as long as the classes say "biochemistry" and "molecular biology" somewhere in the title. If you get an interview, they'll have you bring a course description of your classes, so you can maybe wait until then.
