Anyone accepted to USC and attending the open house in 3 weeks?

If you're not from the LA area and need a place to stay for the weekend... want to all get together, rent a place in the city and split costs? I found a place 15 mins from airport and 15 mins from campus! Located near a light rail station (for those not renting a car). It's a really great price and sleep 6!! Only a few weeks away, so let's get to talking! You can respond here or PM me!

Congrats on your acceptance to USC! I'm excited 🙂

Anyone attending the open house next Saturday? Would love to meet up during the weekend! PM me if so!

@SHELbellySPT The open house was great. We listened to the presidents of each current class speak about their student life in each stage. We listen to a really funny alumnus. We toured the facilities which are VERY advanced and nice. Their program seems outstanding. All the accepted students that I met were very laid back. The professors were very welcoming and attentive to any questions that were asked. They provided us with a lavish lunch which was very unexpected haha. Message me with any specific a questions! I'm clearly being very general here. I loved it, still my top choice as of now.

@BAKE84 Hi! I just got accepted and I have a few specific questions! I'm in the east coast and am deciding between schools but my work schedule does not permit me time to visit the open house. Does USC DPT class have its own cadaver lab? (Also how many students to one cadaver?) Do you also happen know the faculty to student ratio? Do they have clinical affiliation sites throughout America?

And this is one of the drawbacks of not taking a pen to these open houses... the fact that I don't remember specifics haha (I've gone to 3 open houses/interviews in the past 2 weeks so it's all jumbled.)

What I do remember from USC: Yes, PT has own cadaver lab with full body dissections. Don't quote me on how many students to cadaver but I want to say 5.. I can guarantee no more than 6 though. I was really impressed with the tour of their facilities and their detailed explanations of the types of classes we would experience in each setting. They do indeed have clinical affiliation sites throughout U.S.!! Student-faculty ratio is 1:8 (labs usually done altogether -full 90 person class- with a out 15 instructors/GAs/affiliate faculty walking around to assist).

Let me know if you need anything else. If all goes well, I will be attending!

Awesome! Thank you so much that's very helpful @BAKE84
I am deciding between two schools right now but I think I'm leaning towards USC. I wish I could visit but my work won't permit me to. Did you enjoy the campus there? Is there much of a student involvement within the campus and/or community? Did they also mention any social activities for DPT students? Sorry for bombarding you with questions, I want to make sure if I can't visit, I atleast have a lot of concrete details about the program and school! From everything I've heard so far it sounds like a dream school (minus the tuition).

@BAKE84 @optimizingmovement I'm in the same boat, I just got accepted this week but I can't get to CA to visit the school before the deposit is due (next week!). Optimizing, I recommend asking Virginia Orcasitas to put you in touch with a current student if possible. I did that and had a great conversation yesterday with a student who was really open to all of my questions (it's their national conference right now so they seem to have a little bit more down time). She said there were 4 students per cadaver; she really likes the bigger class size (more diversity of people to connect with, also more body types to practice on!) In terms of community involvement/activities, she mentioned outreach to underserved neighborhoods around LA and service trips to Mexico (and Panama and Costa Rica, I believe). Sounds like an amazing program (so pricy though). I'm torn!

Yes @optimizingmovement , @lemurien pretty much answered all your questions! I really like their community outreach programs and service learning opportunities abroad (that's what of the major benefits for me personally). I really liked their facilities, specifically their biomechanics lab and exercise physiology lab. I also agree that the large class size will give a very diverse perspective for both moving and living in CA and in the academic realm as well. I agree @lemurien that the price tag is HEFTY. THat's literally the only drawback.. but after visiting and interviewing at all other schools... USC is by far #1 on my list. Other programs are great too and their smaller price tags are more appealing but I'm about 90% sure USC is the choice. Already sent in my first deposit to save my seat!

Also not sure if either of you received the email with this blog link attached but you can check this out! A current student runs it (I actually haven't even visited the site because I just got done with interviews but I'm sure it offers some great insight)!

Hey do you guys knows how many seats are left? I got on the alternate list and hoping that there is enough turnover for me to get in
