Hey guys, this is my first time posting so be gentle....

I was looking through the USC secondary site... and was going through their completed course summary... when the following line hit me:

Social Sciences, Humanities, and English Composition 30 semester hours/units

No offense to those who majored in any of the above, but how the heck are science majors supposed to comply with those requirements?

Does anybody know if they count AP credit or are they lenient about this requirement? I don't think I can make up that many credits at this point in time.

Also, what did you guys put down for this part if you are in the same boat as me?

Thanks!

yeah, i don't think i meet that requirement either....

do you think foreign languages are counted in that category?

It would have been impossible to graduate from my school without meeting those pre-reqs. I take it your school didn't have distribution requirements? Or at least they were pretty lenient?

I would think foreign language work would cut it, though. It's at least preparation for social science work and work in literature.

i'm an engineering major, so i guess we needed fewer distribution requirements... 24, i think....

i currently sit at... 28.... hAHAA... *sigh*.....

i'm starting to think "what's the big deal.. it's one of thirty schools..."....

what does 30 hours mean? one full year of a course?

30 credit hours: approximately 10 typical 3-credit-hour semester courses.

yeah...it should be pretty hard to do all of your general education reqs without coming close to that 30 hr mark....

Unless your school lets you get away with just taking science classes, satisfying this requirement shouldn't be too hard.

Here's some ideas...
foreign language
art
philosophy
history
psychology
sociology
english

if you haven't graduated yet, and USC is a top priority for you, then you may consider doing them in your upcoming semesters (if you have space in your schedule?)
...guess it's probably too late for summer school?

30 units isnt that much. 7-8 classes. I don't know how you would graduate an undergrad institution without taking that amount of classes in the humanities. i was a biochem major but still had around 100+ units of humanities.

agreed

+pissed+ I'm so screwed... haha

I'm an engineering major...with approximately 9 semester hours in humanities... If I include some engineering classes I can get it up to 12. I don't think I can make the 30 hour mark.

I passed out of all my humanities with AP credits from high school.

Dang it... I knew I should have chose an English minor instead of math.

Oh well... I'll give them a call and see what they say.
