USC Greenville

Pros:
  • Newer/nicer facilities and technology
  • Appears to have decent matches
  • P/F curriculum
  • Optional attendance (I think)
  • Greenville seems to be a great town
  • EMT curriculum seems interesting
Cons:
  • Slightly further from my family (I have close family in Columbia)
  • OOS tuition sucks (same cost as Columbia)
  • Can't find data on STEP scores
  • Business casual dress code

USC Columbia

Pros:
  • Older, more established school
  • Matches decently well (I think?)
  • P/F
Cons:
  • Columbia
  • School facilities are really old and depressing. New building won't be done until my third year.
  • Anatomy lab is not open 24/7
  • OOS state tuition again (doesn't seem to have a lot of scholarship possibilities)

Any particular reason? You're the first to suggest this.
Ehhh I Would prefer being near the undergrad campus, it is also more established which can help especially with residencies in the region if you plan to stay there. Either one though is a good option, where are you leaning?

I’m in the same boat of choosing between the two campuses and personally have been leaning towards Greenville. Although it being such a new school does scare me a little

I’m definitely leaning towards Greenville. I think the “new school” status is probably not much of an issue at this point for me since they’ve had like 10 classes match at this point. I got to tour both campuses, and Columbia is vastly lagging behind Greenville.

I felt the exact same way when I toured. I was worried I was making the wrong decision good to know others agree

If it helps at all, a friend of mine graduated from Greenville and pretty much said they never met anyone who decided to choose Columbia when they had a choice between Greenville and COLA.

As an ophthalmology resident, I would choose Columbia because Greenville doesn’t have an ophthalmology program. Having a home program is a big deal for research, LORs, and matching in general (you’re always most likely to match at your home program). So, just make sure Greenville has a home program in your specialty of choice.

Current M1 at Greenville, optional classes and please let me know your questions!
