there's no such thing as wrong choices. all three are different in their strength and weakness, except that USC and NYU are similar in costs. Life will be good no matter where you go, as long as you work hard.

Loma linda. Good school, cheaper then your other options. Might have to make some lifestyle changes at the school so make sure you're okay with that.

I would pick USC or NYU. Forget ***** Loma lol. I personally couldn't attend a school (unless it was my only choice) that was named after some Seventh Day Adventist whatever that is.

Go with the known brand name.

If you're concerned about image, pick NYU or USC. If you want to have clinical skills head and shoulders above the rest, choose LLU. If you're the kind of person who can't get past the school's SDA backbone, even though it has very little effect on your life in general, then LLU is not the place for you. However, you said you were leaning toward Loma Linda, so you apparently recognize what the school has to offer.

and btw, Loma Linda is spanish for "beautiful hill"

I would say Loma Linda or NYU. LLU is the better of the two CA universities. NYU is probably the best of the three, but much more expensive I imagine.

I didn't apply to loma linda because I don't think I would have fit in well with the religious aspects of it. But if you think that you would, it might be a good option for you.

After visiting Loma Linda the past week, I must admit it is nothing like people make it sound with the whole SDA thing. Normal students, normal life, even if you are not SDA like me. thanks for everyone's input

Deff Loma Linda man.

Wish I could apply there, but I don't have a second quarter of Biochemistry.

What no one seems to mention is that the girls on the LLU campus are gorgeous...it's like what dental school would look like if they made it a cw show

I heard they get crazy at alcohol-free parties too. Those are the best kind 👍

Yeah but do they still make you sign the no premarital sex pledge there? If so its kind of like being a vegan at a Texas BBQ

Take USC out of the picture. Now go to whatever is cheaper.

Money is important, but LL has a policy where if you drink you can get kicked out, while I'm not sure how much it's enforced and (a Loma Linda student might be able to chime in) that is something that is a significant freedom removed from your lifestyle especially if you enjoy it from time to time and might want to kick back after a long week of school. Also don't discount USC when I applied it was my bottom choice due to this forum and now I wouldn't want to go anywhere else, cost excluded, but that doesn't help you with NYU which is more expensive anyway.

Really anywhere else? Even a super cheap state school? I find that hard to believe

Loma Linda might be a fantastic school made up of fantastic people.

But I would never allow an institution to impose its rules upon my lifestyle unless I explicitly agreed with it, and in most peoples' case that would be the case in which they were raised with it.

You might think that abstaining from drinking and premarital sex might not be so difficult right now, but regardless of whether or not you'd be able to do it, it's the principle of the matter that gets to me, and I think people should be aware of the fact that it might affect them later on as well.

You do have to explicitly agree to it. You sign a form acknowledging the rules, much like you would do at another institution. Except this time, they include a requirement to abstain from drinking, smoking, drugs and premarital sex. You might be surprised at how normal life can still be without those things.

12 hours of dental school and lab work a day during second year is enough imposing on my lifestyle as it is.

I would also like to add that even though Loma Linda is known for its great clinicians, and I have personally seen great dentists from there, it is not a fact that it is a better school clinically then USC or NYU. This is open to debate. It is cheaper though, which is a huge plus.
