Hello fellow pre-dents,

I am trying to decide between UCSF and USC, with tuition aside (b/c of military scholarship) what are some pros and cons.

Thanks

Do you want to specialize? How do you feel about PBL? Those are probably the two most important questions. I really liked USC but I always wrote it off because of the cost.

UCSF = better to specialize, lecture based, very strong research, good clinical, great reputation, and BIGGEST PRO is P/NP

USC = PBL

USC is in a pretty nasty location but if you want to work in Southern California people will come to you for the name. I have literally seen multiple dentist advertise as "USC dental school grad"

USC is so expensive. Go to UCSF and never look back

Maybe read the OP next time before posting

With tuition out of the picture it's a harder choice than everyone is making it seem. Hate on USC all you want, their school is great if you are fine with pbl (the downside of which is way overblown on these boards imo) and the alumni connection is absolutely unbeatable in socal (but it extends way beyond that). Also OP I remember someone saying their stipend didn't cover all costs of living in SF because it's ridiculous there and they had to take out some small loans so I'd keep that in mind. This is all coming from a ucla grad who is about to spend another 4 years there, BTW lol
