Hey guys. Thanks for lookin'... Where would you go, of the two?

University of Southern California
Pros: Prestigious, huge network, #15 (ranked by US News and World Report)
Cons: expensive, 4 years, high cost of living

OR

University of Southern Nevada
Pros:3 year school, block system, cheaper all around (cost of living and total tuition), focus on teamwork
Cons:Small network, unranked, Intense program, 90% pass/fail system

Keep in mind that I'd like to do a residency and go into clinical pharmacy after graduation. Thanks in advance for all of your input!

USC. And I base my response on the pros and cons you've posted and the fact that you want ot do a residency in 4 years!
There you go - USC!
😎

I would go to USC.
USN is a teaching-orientated school without the residency program. If I am wrong, correct me. I think USN is for retail and community pharmacist rather than hospital pharmacist.

If you want a residency in 4 years, I'd say you'd be better off at USC. Not just because of name recognition, but because of the opportunities for internship experience and work experience that will prepare you for a residency.

Hahaha, Thanks guys.
In the past few days, every response I get from everyone is USC, USC, USC!! I think I will be attending USC in the fall. =)

Thank you all for your great feedback!!

This is a dumb statement. I graduated from USN and now work in a hospital setting. In my class, i know at least 30 people currently practicing pharmacy at different hospitals in nevada and california. Eventually, it all boils down to:

1. Who u know
2. How to get there.

FYI, more than 50% of USC students will apply for residency. How many spots for residency in California? One hospital has 1-2 opening....Not that many...Lots of competiton, unless u wanna do leg work...

Hey, congrats! Guess you didn't need that spot at UOP after all, huh? 🙂

A big reason I picked UOP over USC was that I plan on doing residency and I'm old, so 4 vs 5 years total is a big deal to me. I did my undergrad at USC so it was a tough choice. True, USC is a bigger name but UOP is by no means small and that extra year saved is golden.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the advice! (@ moolman) I actually got food poisoning two days before the UOP interview... It was a hard interview to go through. I wasn't in my right mind and just messed up a whole bunch of things (interview responses and essay). Hahaha. I got rejected in the most recent of updates from UOP. Anyway, things worked out, USC accepted me, at least I have a place to go next year. By no means is USC a bad choice either hahaha. I hope to meet all of the nice USC people this coming august 😀 Thanks again everyone!!
