USC - waiting game

After taking the August MCAT, I was officially complete with USC (verified through online website and phone call to admissions) in mid-October, but still have not heard anything yet -- no interview, rejection, etc. Is anyone in the same boat? I just called they gave me the same answer as before - "just check online/your email for any news." I'm assuming that the chances are slim to none for an interview at this point. Any input out there?

Yes I have been complete since September. I'm not holding my breath though. Does anyone know when USC stops interviewing? Also, what's the latest we should hear from them for an interview if we are going to get one.

Yes - complete since around September, I think.

My friend is an MS2 there - he didn't interview until March. There's still hope for you!

turned it in hella early....beginning of sept i think. i dont bother checking too often that page anymore..

but on the other usc thread...some guy got an interview recently and he said the only dates that were open were for the beginning of April.

so that doesnt sound too good for us who have gotten no response from them.

I think USC has a weird system for reviewing files for interviews. From what I've heard, they put all the applicants into a database and randomly pull out five at a time to be reviewed. They don't review on a rolling basis. So theoretically, you could be complete in August and your file might not be seen by human eyes until February. 😱 At least that's my understanding from the explanation that I got. Anyone know differently?

i wish USC would notify me too.. i keep getting interviews at places i dont want to go to, and the places i want to go to dont want me. its a bizzare love triangle.

I just got an interview from USC last friday. I was complete on early december. But the weird thing is... the earliest available interview date was 3/31/04!!!! More than 2 months from now. Has anybody who recently got interview invite experienced the same thing???

Hey Markus,

Yeah, I got my invite same day as you (I'm the "guy" jlee is referring to, but just to keep things on the up and up, I'm a gal, really 😉 ). The only interview dates left when I signed up were April 6, 7, 9, 13, 14, and 16.

BruinRab, I think you are thinking of UCLA. I'm not of the exact process, but we do interview the best applicants first and then move our way down the line.

As for interviews, we do stop interviewing sometime in April. I would have assumed reading on here that we would be done sending out invites, but I actually asked them and they said they still are sending out invites. So there is hope for people who havn't interviewed yet.

As for rejections, last year they were behind because they were running a conference during the time they normally reject people. We reject everybody at once, normally around mid may.
I would say it's pretty safe to say if you havn't recieved an invite by march, you would fall under that catagory. Good luck you guys.

No words yet and I was completed back in September or something. I'll probably withdraw my app if I don't hear by March to avoid a rejection letter 😉

I also took the August MCAT and completed my secondaries and letters of rec and all that sometime in September. I haven't heard anything yet either. How many more interview invites can possibly fill 6 days in April? Doesn't sound like good news to me.

I'm not a reliable source but that's what I heard too - that files are reviewed at random. I was complete in Sept and heard mid December.

So they interview till the end of April. Well I guess there's still some hope if any but I doubt I'll get an invite. I might as well withdraw if I don't hear anything from then in March. I have grown tired of reading rejection letters.

When I called to ask when the last group of interviews goes out the lady said it's usually in february but this year she didn't know. I think they have a higher volume of applicants and making for a lot of people that need to be interviewed. Since most people are getting dates that are edging close to their last set of interview dates, I don't see this as a positive sign.
