What do u guys think about USC?

Are you a Californian? If so, it's definitely worth considering. They have a very strong alum network. They also have a very good clinical program. It depends on whether you think that PBL is right for you though. It's a very social school and you will make a lot of connections while in dental school (helpful when you graduate). I ultimately chose USC over Penn. It was a hard decision, but it's the right decision for me.

USC is probably destined to forever be in the shadow of the two UC schools, but that probably doesn't matter to most anyway. You'll find happy and unhappy students there, just like at all schools.

USC has an extensive alumni network because it produces more alumni each year than most schools. Who cares, most dentists work solo anyway.

Decent school, easier to get in than some others (becuz of larger class size), you'll get out of it what you put in to it.

A professor from USC's clinic told me he told his sons not to even apply there.
For what it's worth.

Expensive!!!

After four years, with juice, you will be in the hole almost $400,000!!!!

Plus it's in South Central LA (I.E. the Ghetto).

Other then that, I liked the school from what I saw. PBL is deffinitely different but I think I would like it.

It's my number #2 pick but right now I just need to get in somewhere!!

USC is all about self-motivation to study and clinical skills. If you need somebody to spoon feed you..don't even consider SC. One of the posters mentioned the fact that the school is in the getho. This is one of the advantages of USCSD; while UCLA D-school students beg and almost pay their patients to show up at their clinic (Westwood = Very Far traffic wise), us, trojans, don't have to worry about patient pool....the clinic is always full. Looking at it on a strategically standpoint, we definitely have a huge advantage. What does this means? Excellent clinical training; UCLA is incrediblly good in NBDEs and residency matching (you have to be a brainiac to get accepted there, hence the excellent scores), but if you intention is General Dentistry, USC is definitely the way to go.

If I don't feel comfortable with PBL, should I remove USC from my lists?
I like their clinical strength though.
