Does USC reject anyone or does it keep everyone on the alternate list?

Historically, most everyone is placed on a ranked "waitlist." Each round they pull off the top x number of students for acceptances. This list remains until the first day of school when all 144 students report and the class is officially completed.

Has anyone actually been rejected after interviewing?

If that's the case, I do not really appreciate it. They keep you up in the air by not telling you what your chances of getting in is. If they think an applicant is unlikely to be admitted, they should reject him/her rather than keeping him/her guessing for 6 months and then reject him/her.
Unfortunately, they are not very responsive and helpful even when you contact them.

USC is literally thee most expensive dental school in the United States. IMO, they probably need a long waitlist come September in order to cover their butts when people get cold feet and/or realize they can't get the $400K in loans they need. I agree, it sucks for the waitlisted folks, but it's USC's prerogative. Good luck to you...

And why do they take so long to try to fill up their class? It seems like a school like USC would want to get their acceptances out early to get the best possible class. Isn't only 1/2 full right now???(out of 140)...

How do you know the class is 1/2 full as of today?

Historically, they like to interview late applicants and fill their class by May. I'm sure they will be filling their class up after this next round of interviews and acceptances. People don't interview in MARCH if they are not interested....
