Hello! I recently applied to the USF MSMS program and had some questions regarding the program. I am looking for information from students currently applying to this program as well or students who are in the process of completing/have completed the program.

1. ) I am curious what the medical school admissions process looks like during/after completion of the program?
2. ) Overall, how do you feel about the program and it's ability to help you succeed when compared to other similar programs?

Thanks in advance!

Hey I applied to this program in mid February and recently received and e-mail saying that I had been admitted to the program.

I have read various posts about the pros of this program and not really many cons, other than not having direct linkage to Morsani-COM. Like other SMPs I think that the true value of any of them is truly what you make of your time there and of the resources that will be available to you.

With that being said there are three main things I see people mention about this program and think to be true. 1. USF makes it possible to delve deeply into academia, things like research, facilities and access to an expert faculty are at your reach, this is great for students who didn't get the big university experience, and in my opinion would serve in networking with people who will be and are at the forefront of scientific endeavors. 2. This program being associated with the Morsani-COM could be helpful to people trying to find opportunities to shadow and volunteer. 3 Their curriculum states that there is an elective class, "GMS 6000 - Medical Sciences Success Skills – MCAT prep (3)", which would help those that haven't had time to invest into just preparing for the MCAT.

Over all I think it's a decent program, with many options for making yourself a better applicant to med school. As far as compairng it to other SMPs. I'm sure those that have a leg up are those with direct linkages to medical schools. All the statistics I have been able to find are not too bad and people seem generally quiet after finishing the program so I see that as most alumni being satisfied. What's your opinion on the program?

I wish you the best in your academic journey.
