I was told to interview there as they have strong molecular folks and that is my interest. I was also told that have good overall training in a sunny location- always important. I am going in January and will know more then.

Bump! I'm interested to see what applicants and interviewees think about this program. Thank you.

The largest perk is that you don't have to travel to take the boards.

This is true, although they are in different parts of the city. USF and the VA hospital are out in the New Tampa vicinity and the ABP office is right across the street from Westshore mall, between downtown and the airport.

I grew up in Tampa and went to USF for med school. Path program seemed fine. The faculty at the VA were very pleasant and seemed to know their stuff, and Moffitt is a strong cancer center, where they got all the complex specimens you'd expect and lots of neoplastic hemepath. One real perk of the program is they have a guy who seems to have a very good success rate for getting residents dermpath fellowships, if you do what it takes to impress him. Please note this was all true about 3 years ago, but don't know what/who may have changed in the interim.
