Using a kindle for step 2 prep

no but i did pretest app on the iphone, totally worth it!!! you wont have any excuse not to study and it's convenient too! would have done Step Up To Medicine on Kindle or something.

Has anybody tried using a kindle for ebooks such as case files?

I used kindle to read case files for a couple of clerkships. If you are not a highlighter or a margin writer than its good. However, if you want to save some cabbage and sell the book back, then just buy the hard copy.

iPad FTW. With the GoodReader PDF app you can highlight and markup most PDF's to your heart's content. My daughter has a kindle, and I can't see it being as useful...the print would be very hard to read at that size, and it's difficult and time consuming to scale...although it looks great in the sun...

Used pretest app for peds also and loved it. Very handy, but a little pricey.

Word. Yea i bet the kindle would suck for the first aid series or step up etc, but might be good for case files since it almost reads like a novel anyways. yeah, im gonna get those pretest apps since i hate flipping back and forth to see question then find the answer....

Would it be feasible to carry around a kindle dx (the larger one is 9.7 ") or any such similar large e-reader on rotations? I always assumed it'd be wiser to be discrete with technology. I've been looking at the larger e-readers (for ease of use and not having to scale down pdfs too much) but may settle for a large-ish smart phone to remain a bit under the radar

I keep my iPad in my backpack in a secure area, if there is one. If not, I leave it at home. I keep my phone on me for quick lookups, mostly epocrates or google. I might use uptodate, but usually will do this on an office/hospital computer. I keep the iPad handy as I would a book. Would you carry Harrison's around with you? No. Think of it has a lighter version of Harrison's.
