Hey,

I’ve been using an unlocked iPhone abroad for a while now, but I haven’t even plugged it into a computer because I thought it was gonna get bricked, or something.

Do you guys know if my iPhone will be safe as long as I don’t accept the Apple updates? I looked around the web, but didn’t find much information or warnings regarding what I can/can’t do with an unlocked iPhone

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I think it has the 1.1.1 firmware

Tell iTunes not to download updates. Unless you used anySIM v1.02 because you unlocked your iPhone when it had firmware 1.02, updating will never "brick your phone. I should say that "bricking" means that it is completely unusable in any state and bricking has always been caused by the programs you run ON the phone, rather than Apple itself.

Also, I'd recommend upgrading to 1.1.4 for bug fixes and other new features. The Pwnage Tool released by the dev team will unlock a phone in about 10 minutes.
