Hi all,
I have been using BRS neuro, BRS embryo, and BRS gross anatomy as my primary texts for those subjects. They seem pretty comprehensive to me! However, perhaps I am wrong, and I am missing important information.

Has anyone used any of those texts as their primary source, and if so, how did you do in your classes/on boards?

Those three subjects might make up 10% of your test. I would feel dumb reading anything bigger for these three.

edit: i see you are also talking about classes. i think these are the best for boards, but as to what your classes cover, I cannot say. they are fairly comprehensive review texts however, so they should be fine.

Thanks 🙂 Our classes are pass/fail, so doing well in the class isn't so important to me as acing the boards. But I can't get myself to read some of the "recommended" texts, since they are too long, so I am hoping to do well by just learning the BRS stuff thoroughly.

My school is P/F too, and I used High Yield neuro, embryo, gross, and lecture notes as my primary source. I also used BRS for these subjects not to read but to do all the questions from. Studying this way I did pretty good for the class even it was p/f, I scored above one sd above the mean, and when boards come around I will be using hy which I'm already familiar with. I hate reading recommended texts too, not enough time to do all that.

If doing well on the boards is more important than doing well in class, then chunk those three BRS books. Use the High Yield books for those subjects instead.

And while I agree that embryo is usually not high yield at all, I would make sure to know about gross and neuroanatomy, because some people tend to have a lot of that stuff on their exam (certainly more than 10%) and they're easy, easy points if you just study the info.
