There was a recent thread that talked about not being able to use any form of "measuring device" when taking the DAT, more specifically in reference to the PAT section. For angle ranking, I use rapid eye technique and put my finger close to my eye to block out most of the "legs" of the angle. If I'm not physically touching/near the computer screen, am I still allowed to use my fingers to block out the legs of the angles? From what I gathered in the other thread, it seems like you're not allowed to use your fingers.

Yeah I think you're not allowed to, but if I were you I would just do it unless they tell you to stop.

When I took the DAT today, I didn't use my fingers but instead I put my marker on the monitor few times and they didn't care.......

But honestly, angle ranking was one of the easiest section, therefore you probably do not even need to use your fingers to measure anything. If you can manage to do CDP, I'm sure you will be fine on the test. I was getting 6/15 on most of my practice on angle ranking.

You're not allowed to use your fingers, markers, papers or any other object to aid you in the PAT section other than your eyes and your brain. Remember that you're being video taped and they review your testing session before sending your schools official scores. I'm sure you don't want to be 'disqualified' from that DAT testing session just because of this. Anyway, that section is totally doable without any aids. GOOD LUCK!

When I took my test at Prometrics in Utah, they said you could do what ever you wanted as long as you did not "physically touch" the screen. I put my fingers up to it a few times for the angles and no one said anything. I think putting you fingers in front of you face or near the screen for a few seconds won't get you disqualified, and they will probably tell you if your not aloud to, just my thoughts though.
