Is it "okay" to purchase older anatomy books - like for example a 1997 version of netters atlas? Any thoughts on this money saving tactic?

Humans are evolving at a rapid pace, so you should purchase a new atlas every other year. 🙄
(Bad Joke)
Netter died a few years ago, and the editions have only included some minor corrections, integration of more radiological imaging plates, and have included a handful of new plates drawn in the Netter style. Previous versions are just fine.
Edit: dang, Law2Doc beat me to the punch! lol
I'm not sure I agree. The older editions don't have the detail maps of the cranial nerves. Not everyone keeps their atlas, you should be able to get a current edition used book at your campus bookstore. Just make sure it doesn't stink!ya you're fine purchasing an old edition.

How much money are you expecting to save.
Also bear in mind that I think you can get a new Netter by joining AMSA or one of the other med orgs, so if you were going to do that anyway, that's the way to go.
wait till school starts to get netters. AMSA will give you one if you join.
Not at my school. 🙁 I was offered a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble for about $70 or so if I signed up for their credit card, but that was it. We didn't get anything just for joining.
