Technology Using PDA for navigation

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I need some basic info about how to use my PDA for navigation. I have a Dell Axim. I have heard people use it for this purpose. Search for prior posts confused me even further. Can someone explain to me how to go about doing this?

Thanks

You need a map proggy like Tom Tom. If your PDA doesn't have a GPS built in you're also going to need a GPS device and BT to PDA.

Thanks for the reply... but I need some more info.

I have a Dell Axim X51v and it has both GPS and Blue Tooth. So I understand what I need to buy is GPS/navigation software. What are the choices I have other than Tom Tom...? Something in the range of 50 bucks? Any free ones available?

It's not very good, but Microsoft Pocket Streets for PocketPC comes with Microsoft Streets and Trips 2006 (or 2007, if it's out now) which is about $50. It supports basic mapping, and I believe supports GPS, although it's quite limited.
