Hey everyone,

I hope you're all doing well. I just had a question about studying for MCAT 2015: I was looking over the preview guide for the MCAT2015 (https://www.aamc.org/students/download/266006/data/2015previewguide.pdf) and I did definitely notice a lot of changes in the new MCAT which I intend on taking.

My question is this: The AAMC will release a practice test and stuff in 2014, but for now, would it still be a good idea to look over material from the MCAT review books for the current test? I managed to score a used set of EK books and I was wondering now if it would be worth it to look over the stuff that the MCAT previously covered just to get a familiarity with the knowledge they expect you to know?

I also realize that there is some overlap between the two MCAT's, but I just wanted to know how important the previous version of the test would be when studying for the 2015 version.

I would say it is worth it because there are no current materials that have what you will need to know. Plus, many of the subjects are not changing dramatically. From what I understand, the science is just going to be applied in a more modern way but the core science is the same.

Probably. A basic knowledge of biology, chemistry and physics is important for understanding many concepts in medical school. But none of us have experience with the new mcat so we can't really help you.
