Using step 1 books as study aid?

I was thinking about buying some step 1 books, and using them as a study aid so I can learn the material right along side my lectures starting next year. Any experience on doing this? I would hope it would allow me to reinforce my lecture material, but still keep me fresh on the what exactly I need to know for the boards.

Also, is there anywhere on this site that has a thread or area the rates different authors books for different subjects? I was hoping to figure out which books would be worth buying.

That's a good idea and that is what I have been doing. If you go look in the back of First Aid for Step 1, they have a list of books for each subject, each with a rating. Those are a good guide. You could get the A+ and A rated books and you couldn't go wrong. The ones that you absolutely need (in my opinion) are just First Aid, Rapid Review Pathology, and BRS Physiology. It isn't a review book, but Micro Made Ridiculously Simple is great also.

If you do a little searching around the forum, you'll find about 40 other threads asking this question.... if you start looking and reading, you'll find more than enough answers by other people to your question .
