If English is my second language and I can read and write and communicate fluently. However, My reading is not as good as a native speaker. Is an average enough to score high at the USMLE. By average I mean your linguistic skills and not your sciences. I saw a lot of MD doctors at the Hospital who came from overseas and aced the USMLE, but I am not sure about their backgrounds. Anyway how much English do i need??? Is it like the verbal reasoning section of the MCAT???

The question stems can be long and sometimes contain extraneous information and are written at a pretty high reading level. If you are fluent then you shouldn't have too much of a problem, especially with practice.

Have you taken a look at any question bank samples? They should give you a better idea.

Thanks, I haven't looked at any question bank samples, any recommendations on a free comprehensive sample .
