I am trying to get a plan set so I can prepare for step 1 starting from MS1. I am going to attend a P/F school.

Should I study out of USMLE specific books + Q banks for my courses rather than the recommended textbooks (because these are very dense and contain way too much info). Any advice on this? I also plan on using FC/GT.

thanks

Not textbooks per se, but review books or simplified texts is what I would recommend. Lippincotts Illustrated reviews: Biochemistry, Pharmacology. Clinical micro made ridiculously simple, BRS anatomy, physio. You could get the first aid basic sciences, I've looked at it, looks like a nice review before a shelf exam.
Best way to prepare for Step 1 IMO is to learn all the concepts and memorization really well the first time, they come back to you very quickly.
