Question: If after graduation the school realizes a student did not pass a class in basic sciences (mistake during transferring) and they have already taken Step 1, would their Step 1 score still count since they technically weren't allowed to sit for the exam?

:naughty: Let us know how this turns out.

My best guess: It stands. Your school gave permission, the board was cool with it, you passed the exam. End of story.

Are you the one trying to get the score overturned or is the school? These are two completely different situations and will likely have different chances of success.

I didn't pass the first time, was sick while taking it. I passed it on the retake. I still haven't retook the class though which is what the school wants me to do ( i dont have a problem with it). Why is the school overturing it a different situation than me having it overturned?

After graduation? How does that happen? Must be a bootleg school if they don't even verify the classes you've taken when giving you a final transcript and diploma.

The whole situation is really fishy. You sure it isn't Sof Troll? 😉

Why wouldn't you have a problem retaking the class? - 😕 - Didn't you match?

Guessing you're an IMG here - I meant overturned to your benefit, even that is unlikely. They obviously have a better chance because they have more resources/pull, should they want to put in the effort. Caveat: Never heard of such a situation. The school can't threaten you with, you didn't pass this class so we'll have your Step score overturned. They could, however, threaten to void your diploma. Dunno, you'll have to talk to a lawyer.

I want a higher score. I only got a 230. I haven't taken step 2 yet. I had a fever both times I took step 1...worst luck possible. Yes I'm an IMG, only because I had a lot of fun in undergrad...it was my mcat's that got me in. I don't want to be picky but I know I can do better and I want an opthamology residency so I just want to see what my options are
