Just applied for Step 1 and saw that I need to mail back a photo of myself to the NBME. Just curious if people ordered actual passport quality photos from a drugstore or just printed it out themselves on their printer.

My school took them for us. I didn't know this and went to a CVS and had it done for like five bucks.

I used a passport photo from a drugstore because I had no idea what was acceptable. It only cost me 10$ (and apparently I got ripped off, should have paid 5 🙁 )

i scanned my drivers license and sized the photo to the 2" X 2" then printed it on regular paper. totally free!

As long as they have a picture of your face that can confirm your identity it doesn't need to be fancy or glossy. Your residency application photo should be more formal and whatnot, but for this, who cares.

I think I went to Kinkos and had them print my own faceshot in 2x2 format. Super simple and you will have 6-8 left over!

I went to Kinkos as well. It was pricey but I didn't want to have a problem with the USMLE people. Not in the mood to have a delay because I was trying to save a few bucks.
