When would you recommend doing the USMLE CD that was sent along with the orange form? Do you think that around 2 weeks before the actual exam is a good time? Also, what about the Kaplan Practice CD?
What do you think is the minimum score you should get on these CD?s, in order to pass the actual USMLE?
Thanks!

I think that the practice CD is too easy. I take my exam on Friday. I got 82.6% correct on the practice CD (USMLE). I have taken over 1000 Q-bank questions and my average is only 69%!! I will post again on Friday after I take the real deal. I have taken two shelf exams and they seemed more difficult than the USMLE released items. Good luck

Good luck to you on the USMLE on Friday!!!
Did you take the Kaplan Practice CD? What did you think of that compared to the USMLE CD?
Let us know how it goes on Friday....

I took the Kaplan CD and it was much more difficult. I scored a 61% on there diagnostic back somtime in Feb. So of course that is not reflective. I will post what I think after Friday, but it does seem that the USMLE CD was too easy and the Kaplan CD was too hard (hopfully)

A couple of things, I took the exam today. It was difficult.

The Practice CD that USMLE sends out is NOT reflective of the exam. Kaplan Q bank is your best bet

i have similar stats, 69% on qbank, slightly higher on qbook, and 87% on the nbme practice questions. i have over 2 weeks left til my test date. i found the nbme q's to be very general and conceptual, focusing mostly common diseases and complications. is the real exam the same, focusing on the common stuff rather than rare tumors and syndromes?

Finally, someone that agrees with me that the cd they send is not reflective!! I also thought the real exam was much harder. Funny thing is that I had a 75% in the cd and finished q bank with an 80. But maybe this was because the last week i was doing q bank for the second time..

Thanks for all your responses!

Gator, any specific information that you would like to share about your USMLE? What areas did you feel were tested most? Any specific questions that you remember? Any other advice for the test day itself that we might find helpful (such as when to take breaks, etc.)?

Thanks a lot!

There is no advice I can give regarding content. It was really well spread out. I would suggest getting in the habit of looking up lab values, because you have to do that alot! Other than that, study autonomics! Did anyone else see that there is going to be a delay in reporting?
