Once you register with the NBME ( ECFMG if you are an FMG ), you will receive an email containing your registration confirmation. Sometimes it can take them a couple of weeks to get this to you. This form must be printed out and taken with you on test day ( equivalent to the old orange slip ). When you receive this form you call Thompson Prometric and schedule a date of your choosing. The exam is offered most days of the year, but bear in mind some dates may not be available at the center of your choice due to overbooking etc.BTW the above info pertains to the step II CK exam. You can check availability for the CS exam by visiting www.nbme.org. Again however you will not be able to schedule anything until you have filed and received the appropriate paperwork as outlined above. Good luck.
