I'm about to send off my scheduling permit that my dean is going to sign.

Hope I'm making the right decision here as I'm an American Citizen IMG.....but I wanted to know if you guys think 3 months and 9 days is enough to study for step 1?

I am planning to take the exam November 19th.......

Thnx.

Hi, I am preparing myself for step 1 USMLE,I think you can do it if you take the DIT course. Regards.

Thanks guys appreciate it.

Reason I am asking if 3 months is enough

is because our system isn't geared towards the USMLEs. It's a 6 year program, but I've been given credit for my previous degree so it's shortened to 4 years (thankfully)

I've finished the preclinical sciences.

I am just trying to figure out how to structure in the study between now and november for the following reasons:

1) we still have "clinical based lectures" mondays/tuesdays

2) we're at hospital wednesday/thursday/friday, but this is where the problem is...

a) trying to keep up with the material being taught, while studying for step 1.

b) the schedule is quite haphazard so it's hard to make a DEFINITIVE schedule out of what I've got, because some days we may have something scheduled at 7am, or 9am, or not until 4pm till 5pm.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this and how did they deal with this sort of schedule?

I feel like I'm trying to fit a square peg into a round hole sometimes!

3 month is good for IMG as busy as yourself. Find a detailed and structured way to review everything. Some found Kaplan prep classes or DIT helpful. I did neither so I can't say but search around on the forums and see what you found. There is a fair amount of IMG's on these forums. They will be your best resource.
