Wow, I haven't been to SDN in a while, but here goes...

Does anyone know if a percentage breakdown exists for question content on Step 1? Specifically, I'm trying to gauge the level of focus on Microbiology, but I would like to know about them all of course.

thanks!

You'll never get the same answer from any two people that have taken the test. For example: my exam featured a lot of the b-titled subjects (seriously, I had a surprisingly high number of behavioral/biostats/biochem questions), another friend of mine had a high volume of gross anatomy.

In general, most would mention that Path/Pharm/Phys occupied the bulk of their exam, but I'm beginning to think this is more a matter of recall bias since these subjects tend to make up the more conceptual (read difficult) questions on the exam. After the 3 P's, I'd say micro/neuro/biochem/behavioral/biostats are the next highest yield.

Overall, my Step I was fairly evenly distributed among subjects except for perhaps embryology (and I would NOT recommend skipping this... fetal circulation and heart development questions have been asked in the past).
