Hi I thought this would be a great place to add strategies for the USMLE that you have acquired while studying that you believe might help. Feed back week. My tip for the week:

Buy BRS Pharm Cards. For the psychiatric and neurology drugs, write in the key points from first AID pharm and pathology section. This will help you understand the key features of the illness. Here is an example:

SSRI
Major depressive episode characterized by SIG E CAPS

Gr8 Idea. Heres my tip.

While doing UW it takes really long to annotate FA or RR Path (goljan) as u have to find the exact page....specially if u r doing it in last month.

What I am doing is (done abt 20-25% UW)....made an exclusive UW notebook (thick meads multi subject), and divided it into systems and basic subjects...and adding into it....saves some time, yet u can revise system wise. I also read that someone had taken the pages of FA and punched them in a binder, thats a great idea too , but I am too late for that.

Also when i come across an MRI or picture which i think i would like to revise later....i note them all on a page.....like 9th test question 8 is T9Q8.

this is what i did...
since my exam was on a thurday, i always scheduled a nbme exam, or some sort of simulated exam such as kaplan on a thursday morning. that way it almost became a habit that i do at least 200qs on a thursday morning-afternoon.

i dont know how much that will help, but when i took my real one, it just felt like routine and i had no problems with stamina or anything, in fact i finished the exam a little past 1pm on that day

These are really great ideas to get all the info organized in one place! I find myself so many times just going from book to book trying to find a bit info that I read once, and it takes me forever <sigh>

I find it heartbreaking to dismember my new FA but I'll do it :meanie: It makes a lot of sense 😛 I might dismember Step up as well, maybe...

Keep the tips coming! Thanks!

Revision of this tip

Use microsoft onenote to make a virtual notebook. That way you can have it sorted and can also search and add things in as you go along. Not too mention taht most people type faster than they write.

Also, get a program like winflash and make virtual flashcards. It is so much easier than carrying around a stack of a few hundred flashcards.
