USMLE's

can someone please brief me on the USMLE's?

how long are the exams? what's the difference b/w "Steps"? is step III optional, like the sat II's were? heh.. somehow i doubt that..

what's a good score? a great one?
do med schools help you prepare for it specifically, or are you on your own like on the MCAT?

Typically you are on your own in preparing but the school will usually give you several weeks off from class/clinical responsibilities to prepare for Step I.
