I can't decipher your first post?!?!

ok i iwll make it simple...

can we work with the intern licence as a pharmacy intern for pay ie 13-15 $ an hr. that means can we work after doing our rotations for pay.

if we hav to do 8 hrs a week rotations and we do 20 hrs do, can we get paid for those extra 12.

Also want to know if USN's schedule covers all the reqd rotatio hours in the 3 yrs or shud we do some extra hourse to be eligible for the licencing exam...

You need to look into the NV licensing. It depends on the state. In some states you are required to have paid intern hours just to sit for the state exams. Yes, you can work as a paid intern, after you get your intern license. In some states you can get your intern lisence p1 while other states you have to wait til p2. I believe NV allows P1 to get an intern license.

It doesn't matter anyway gvsk, you have to mail a letter of ENROLLMENT from the dean with the application for intern license. I mailed in my letter of acceptance and that was not good enough. After talking with USN about it, no letters of enrollment will be issued until tuition is paid for. So unless you have already paid in cash, it seems everybody will have to wait until August 22 for orientation to receive their financial aid and pay their bills. Then the dean will give letters of enrollment. It suck because no one can get a head start on the license and job search, unless ofcourse you are rich.

1. It's not about money as to when you get your intern license. Even if you pay your whole tuition, I don't think you can get your license early. USN likes to organize everything so that you get all your information at orientation and then you all send it in around the same time and then you all give them copies of the licenses around the same time.

2. OP, please, please, please work on your grammar and phrasing. If it is a question, where is the question mark? I am not the grammar nazi by far, but your original post was hard to decipher and I'd hate to have to judge you based on you lack of ability to communicate your questions----but many did not understand what you were asking and you'll get much better responses if people can understand your questions. Not to mention, I cringe everytime USN lets someone in that can't communicate for crap because that's our jobs as health professionals.

3. Getting a job will not be hard. You don't have to get one day 1. What I recommend is checking out your site and see how that goes. IF you like the place, maybe talk to them about working there. It may take 2 or 3 visits before you really know if you're going to like the place, but I recommend waiting to see before you ever bring up that you're interested in working there, because they will jump on it and you'll probably have a job before you even know if you like the place.

4. Ok, so you want a job now. If the site your at is not appealing to you or they are not hiring, then there are lots of options. You will have free lunches from the various retail places and you can chat them up or talk to other students who can probably help you find a place. I don't think it will be hard to find somewhere and I am guessing the pay for P1 is about $13-17.

5. It sounds like your a little confused about your free 8 hours every 2 weeks and adding 12 more on. The 8 hours is scheduled at the same place and you don't get paid. If you get a job at that place, then you can work there however many hours and get paid for them, but usually people end up working somewhere else and put in their day for school at their site.

6. P2 does the same 1 day every 2 weeks, but it's on Tuesdays.

7. The hours you need for the board are built into the curriculum. 160 hrs P1, 240 hrs between P1 and P2, 160 hrs P2, 240 hrs x 6-7 rotations P3. Any hours you want to work are up to you.

Hope this clears some things up, and if not, you will get LOTS of info at orientation. Good Luck.

Thanks for the reply.

I found of most of the info, the main area where i still dont have most info is in regards to working in a independent pharmacy. From a few friends i found out that interns who work in a independent pharm get paid over 20$ per hr. i want to know if this fact is true in the las vegas area..

It could be true. I don't know. I don't work in independent pharmacy and you're going to be hard-pressed to find a job there because there are not a lot. Also, if they really do pay that much, the students that are already there probably aren't leaving or they may only pay that much to the P3 students. As a P3, you can make that much at at least 2 of the chains. P1s don't get a lot because you can't do a lot of the work yet. In the chains, you get a raise based on your year in school, so you have to consider that when comparing pay with other students.
