I can't figure out which one to rank over the other. I feel like when it comes down to it the pluses and minuses kinda equal out but I want to see if I'm missing something. I really appreciate your guys opinions. I really don't know what I want to do after residency academic vs. PP vs. fellowship either. Thanks again.

Houston - Program wise the hospital system is massive with the ability to rotate at Texas Heart and MD Anderson. I really liked Dr. Gumbert you can tell he really advocates for the residents and seemed really honest about the program good and bad. The program is large at 20 plus residents which I don't know how I feel about. Texas seems to have a good job market and a great state to practice in. Lots of grads getting private practice jobs right out of residency but I can't remember if we saw a detailed fellowship match list. Unsure of how the didactics are I know things have been changed after the PD change. Larger city than Lexington but also that comes with more traffic and a slightly higher cost of living.

UK - Really liked Dr. Schell you can tell his focus is the residents and their education especially with have a masters level education specialist on staff. Definitely think the didactics are strong along with intra operative teaching. 12 resident per year program which is what I was looking for. Residents get fellowships and jobs but a decent amount stay in Kentucky. Lexington is a smaller city in comparison but has all the things I was looking for in a place to live along with a slightly lower cost of living.

Re-read your post. Seems like you want to go to Kentucky.

All this time to tinker with the list must be getting to me. Thanks thats what I was needing to hear.
