UT houston

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
UT houston is a nice program. Residents are really cool, attendings are really nice, houston is good city. No problem meeting numbers, you get to train at a huge cardio center, Texas heart institute, and a huge cancer center. Maybe 10% of the residents fellowship, and they all do it in Texas, everyone else private practice. Pass rate on the boards is 80%. The interim chairman has retired this year, and they are electing a new interm chair. The chairman hunt has been going on for over a year. They dont do alot of research there but their
is alot of opportunities to do research.

the only issue the residents have is with didactic, they want more of it and there is currently an emphasiss to change that for the current and upcoming class.

thanks for the info. 80% seems a little low...is it a workhorse program?
can they moonlight?

i think you can moonlight at the county facility, LBJ.

it seems like a decent program. residents were friendly, and the interviews were low stress.

Amyl,

I interviewed at UT-H a few weeks ago, and I've placed a fairly detailed review on this thread.

Hope this helps!
