I'm from UT-Memphis... and UT-Knoxville, while a separate residency program, is one of our training sites as medical students. I did two rotations there one in FP and one in anesthesiology. Many of my classmates did their ObGyn third year clerkship there. It is more of a community program, but with academic ties (to UT, obviously). I don't know a lot of specifics about the ObGyn program other than what I saw of the labor hall and OR's they were very nice, clean, and modern. My experiences with the hospital in general: a nice hospital considering it serves the role of county hospital for the area. It is located across the river from downtown in a really nice setting in the hills. Knoxville is a small city, mainly a college town for the large undergrad population. The facilities are generally pretty good with decent call rooms and a really nice resident library and lounge attached to the hospital. If you are looking for more of a university/big name place, this probably isn't for you. if you want a community program with university ties in a small city and enjoy outdoorsy stuff like hiking or you are a UT football fan, its worth a look. Not sure about volume, but it is a level one trauma center and I imagine it receives a lot of high risk transfers. Hope this helps a little!
