I really need your help here; I go to UF undergrad and will graduate this Spring. I got into UTHSC, and I have interviews for MUSC and UF in these next two weeks. As an out of state, I'm not too thrilled about the 40K/yr price tag of UTHSC and MUSC. But should I even go to MUSC (long drive) if I'm already accepted into UTHSC? UTHSC is better right? But if I get into UF I should go there over every other school right? Please let me know! Thank you!

Depends on how much debt you want to be in and locations you like and where you would like to practice after graduation

For my sanity:
  • UF = University of Florida
  • MUSC = Medical University of South Carolina
  • UTHSC = University of Tennessee Health Science Center
No one here can tell you what you “should” do; that’s your decision that you have to make for your own reasons.

Name at least one thing you like about each school. If you can name more than one, that’s great. Write down as many as you can. Then do the same for cons, or what you wish the school had (e.g. lower tuition, newer facilities, higher residency match rate, whatever’s important to you). If something isn’t important to you, don’t list it, even if a certain school is really good about it (for example, I’m not really interested in doing a residency, so I ignored that when looking at pharmacy schools). Remember that ranking isn’t everything, so if the only reason you can come up with for why you like or don’t like a school is their ranking, you’re gonna have a bad time.

And re: whether you should go to the interview in South Carolina, consider whether there’s any chance you would consider attending that school should you be accepted. If you’re reasonably sure you wouldn’t attend if you were accepted you can decline the interview invitation, just decline with at least a few days’ notice. A week is optimal.
