Hey guys my name is Steven and I am an applicant for the 2012 DPT program. I have an interview this Friday and was wondering if anybody had any pointers to give me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations! I heard from a student that was accepted last year and she said that she just bought a generic interview book and went through generic questions. She also looked over the Vision 2020 and the Texas direct access stuff.

I've been waiting to hear from UTHSC about an interview. How did they let you know? snail mail? email? phone call?

Hey Steven,

How did the university contact you about an interview, and when did they contact you?

Hey Steven,

How did the university contact you about an interview, and when did they contact you?

I just called to find out about interviews. The very nice lady that answered told me that all of the interview offers had been extended and that the interviews were all happening this week. So, if you haven't heard anything like me, it means that you probably didn't get in. She explained that they will send us rejection letters after the interviews are complete. So expect a rejection letter in the mail next week if you haven't heard from them at this point.

I hope that helps. I know it was a relief for me to know even though it was bad news.

If they dont want me, then I dont want them. On to the next interview and school!!!

Yep, I got mine yesterday. I was tempted to write and tell them what schools I got into so far and tell them where they could stick there application and interviews, but something about maturity and professionalism, blah blah blah and those qualities they look for in future PTs made me think differently 😛

I also got an e-mail telling me I was waitlisted hehe

I was also placed on the waitlist with UTHSCSA. The staff and students were professional and friendly when I met them. Their presentation was great and it seems like it's an outstanding program. While I am puzzled why I was not accepted (I feel confident as an applicant as I have been accepted to a higher ranking program already), I have to keep in mind its a matching process and I didn't fit what they were looking for as an applicant. I am hoping to a get a couple of more interviews before I make a final decision. I have faith that I will be matched into a right program for me.

Don't feel too bad about it. If I remember correctly, less than 25% of all PTCAS applicants from last year's application cycle received more than one acceptance. Also, school rankings don't necessarily reflect how difficult it is to get accepted at a particular school. If a school features economical tuition rates and gets a lot of students to pass their exams on first try, it could get flooded with applications regardless of whatever their rank might be. I personally think the school ranking methodology is rather dubious.

Agreed with rangardrum with the concept of ranked PT schools in the US. Every program is different. On one end of the spectrum I've met some real lazy PT's from great schools and on the other some great ones from BS programs from around the world. Most important thing is just to get accepted, make what you can from your education, and be the best PT you can be.

Hope to see some of you sometime, whether it be in mh program or during some of the Texas conferences when you guys get into PT school! 🙂
