utility of taking a class right now to improve chances

A question for all:

Is it useful to take a class right now to show a med school that you are "hungry" or have greater desire to be admitted? Just wondering if that is crucial if you are borderline or on a waitlist or if it can improve your app ...

Secondly, is it practical? I mean, the semester has started, by the next quarter a class wouldn't end until June, so no grade would really be had ...

if you can answer, it's appreciated --- anyone have a take on this?

My best guess is it would have no effect whatsoever on your current application.

at least it makes you sound active and gives you something to stick in an update letter beyond "PLEASE, PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE"
