Anybody have an opinion? I am interested in radiology. When looking specifically at females, both schools seem to put few women into the field I like... could be a multitude of factors there, though.

I’m leaning towards UTMB currently but just want to know if there’s anything I may not be considering.

Thanks in advance!

My first question is which school felt more like "home" for you when you interviewed? Which school's mission most closely aligns with your values and "vibe" if you will. I wouldn't dwell too much on statistics for post-medical school just yet. I also see less women in your field of choice as a nice challenge! Four years from now, you'll have a unique success story to tell. I'm excited for you and ultimately whichever school you go with, it'll be a good choice and the right one for you. Good luck and gig 'em! 🙂

TAMU Class of 2015

To be honest, you will probably be just fine going to either school wanting to match Radiology. I would personally pick UTMB though.

  • you know where you're staying for 4 years and don't have to worry about potential relocation in years 3-4.
  • It's a much bigger program and if you ever do change your interests you have access to a wider array of clinical experiences in various specialties, and can even do some rotations in the TMC.
  • Cost is basically the same so its also a non-factor.
  • UTMB has a tried and true curriculum, 2 years, completely P/F, basically no mandatory attendance at all, really flexible
  • Research opportunities are slightly more numerous
  • TAMU is undergoing some changes right now with shrinking class size, and a lot of attention donated to EnMed. Overall its a newer school
  • UTMB Alumni network wayyyy bigger. If you choose to leverage it, can help you throughout your training + career.
  • Students at UTMB are crazy chill, and the huge class size means you'll probably find at least a few cool classmates you find it enjoyable to spend time with.
Good luck with your decision 😀
