3.65 for the accepted students? That's wrong.
Students with 3.65 WILL NEVER BY ANY MEANS GET an interview invite.
In fact, 3.85 is the GPA for the accepted students.
But you have to keep in mind that U of Toronto DOES give a slight preference to those with Master's Degree or PhD. The accepted students from Master Program generally have 3.7~3.9 average. After "the bonus" is added to that slightly lower grade, the average of all applicants is calculated. This means one important thing. If you are a student coming directly from the undergraduate institute, you should aim for 3.92< to secure your interview. I am not kidding. Students with 3.85 and even 3.87 frequently fail to get invitations. To make the matter even worse, only A+ is considered "4.00".So your grade will be "deflated" a bit. However, good news is that, provided that you completed 4 years, they do not count the year with poorest grades if that year is not your most recent year.
Long story short, University of Toronto Dental School is really tough to get in. I know it well because I was rejected from the school a couple of times with excellent stats (3.94, AA23).I ended up getting an interview but all the other applicants had even better stats (a lot of 4.0's). At the end, the interviews are scored too.
If you are considering U of T as your next destination, please be advised to apply other schools as well and think about the second option. The school is great and a leading institute in the country. However, gaining admission to it takes a lot of competition.
