Does anyone know anything about UTSW's path program? I've heard some people say its one of the best in the country with a big program, tons of exposure to path and research and Dallas is a cool town! Does anyone have any info on the program? Or has anyone done an elective there?

I will be doing an elective there this Fall; mainly to check-out the city and obviously the program. I can give more feedback after I'm there. 👍

I don't really know anything about UTSW path, but it is definitely one of my top choices!! My mentor (he's a pulmonologist, not a pathologist) says that UTSW is one of the best institutions in the country for research. He says that they do a great job of getting and keeping good people and producing great young researchers. I am looking forward to seeing it on the interview trail.

Not sure about Dallas being a cool town though.

I am a resident here at UTSW. Whaddya want to know? The residents are very happy here and we get together often for socializing both in and out of work. There are lots of fellowship and research opportunities in a variety of areas. We're a relatively large program with around 51 residents and fellows. Very flexible with a mix of AP and CP rotations in every year. There's a good number of med students doing electives here, some from other schools who generally do surg path, pedi path, CP, or forensics electives.

Dallas is certainly not the coolest town around. Nothing to see tourism-wise, except where JFK was shot (who wants to be known as a city where a president dies?). Nothing to see for natural scenery, so you have to fly or drive somewhere for that. At least DFW airport is a major hub. The upshot is there's lots of restaurants, bars, etc.
