decks, old exams, i didnt have kaplan review so cant say, do 2004 exam pilot one, do theory for topics u r not sure abt


i used to score 87-90 out of 100 on old exam,
old exams help u to start thinking how to get the right answ.i have posted earlier abt my experience, topics r the same u dont have to study anything in more detail or extra, expect pathology

as for retaking the exam scoring pattern is quite different this time like my raw scores as shown in my report are



anatomy - 76 that would have been 92 according to 1998 /old pattern
b/c, physio- 87 would have been 99


etc....etc.... if on old pattern u had 89 in antaomy ur raw score u would be 71
and if 89 in B/C physio ur raw would be 69-70.......
in this exam even after getting 87 correct out of 100 i scored just 91 so would have to do more correct questions........

do yourself a favor, DO NOT RETAKE part 1, take your part 2 , once you have a decent score, add other things to your resume and apply everywhere you can, you wud get interviews.👍 hone your clinical skills too if you planning to apply to CA schools. good luck

as my mailing address was of India it took exactly 4 weeks (15march exam-16 april result) but people who took it around that time with me and had US address got it in 15 days

i had enough time in exam, even after going through all the ques again including marked one, i finished 30-40 min early so dont worry plenty of time.....esp in first half as testlets are in second half mostly .....for related ques of one testlet u dont have to go back there will be a sign on ur window reading attachment / extra or something i dont rember exactly when u click on it in the same window a small box with patient history appears so u can relate and look for info u want u dont have to go back


for review of marked ques in which u have doubt or if u left them unanswered when u click on sign at bottom of ur screen which is there with evry ques u r doing, it will show all the history like this

I have given my exam accordingt to this new pattern of part 1.. my score is 84.. and i am too confused in my life... abt wat to do nxt... i want to apply... but really dunno if i shud really do so...

i guess SPT has the highest score till now.. tht i hav heard of... Congrats dude!...

i finished my Postgraduation this dec., i had hard time going through basics maybe that is why i put more effort ........but in the real exam it was my basic knowledge or concepts which helped me more than mugging up facts in micro or patho. as in exam for repeat quest everyone scores almost same, but the new addition were really vague patient mangement kind of ques.

i more advise sometime in answering such quest we tend to apply too much concepts and in fact the answ is very simple and straight, even i had the same problem, u would think how can it be this simple there has to be a catch and u go through patient history and start applying ur concepts ........and even though got the answ right in first guess but ..............😕 sometimes the answ of one ques is in the second one u will do after it esp in case based so in these ques relate all the answers of that case they should match..........

Dental Anatomy: 74.6


Mean Score (No. and %): The mean score is the average number or percentage of items answered correctly by members of the reference group. Ideally, the mean should fall between 60% and 70%.


Standard Deviation: The standard deviation provides a measure of spread in scores. The ideal standard deviation for a 100-item examination is 12 ( but it varies from 10-12)

so if it was 66.2 in anatomy then 95% students scored 66.2 +_ 11 or u can say between 55 to 77 , this is quite similar to 1998-2005 period avg. scores

but now since we are not getting standard score subject wise like they told me i scored 76 but did not compare my score with standard,
rather 336/400 is compared to others,

earlier they used to give standard score subject wise so if my scores were

so getting 85+ is like getting 90+ in the old format rite....tats wat i understood....😕...so will the universities calculate this way when comparing scores from the old format and the new one????😱
