What are people's impressions of UVA neurology?

Personally, I really liked it--program is excellent, extremely respected, amazing and well known faculty, residents are a lot of fun and happy. starting with our year, they are an integrated program with a prelim year. i just didn't like charlottesville. it's a pain to fly into, expensive as well and just too homogenous for me. supposed to be a good place for a family though. it's similar to chapel hill, but CH is a little more diverse. if you could live there, it's a great place to train.

what are YOUR impressions Jacksonian March? You have asked everyone for their impressions of a large number of programs and you have not shared your own opinions at all. It almost seems as if you are writing a book or compiling a list of impressions for reasons beyond ranking your own list (there is no way anyone is so clueless after interviewing at all these places). If you are indeed a real applicant interviewing at all these places, please post some of your own impressions.

You know TF, I don't know what your beef is with me?.... as if your sense of entitlement is beyond compare or something.... it's interesting. Anyway, I am a REAL applicant that did indeed interview at a high number of programs, and I have posted several impressions and provided feedback, my friend.... and I don't think you have an idea about how many PM's I have sent/received and corresponded with other applicants.... are there any programs you would like me to comment on, just let me know, I would be more than happy to?.... after having been to so many places, things sort of "blend together", as they say, and I was just soliciting some helpful advice from some of my future colleagues, MOST of whom have been sympathetic and amenable to my inquiries.

What tofurious is saying is that you create threads about programs asking what other people think, and then don't respond in those threads what you think-- since you obviously interviewed at those programs.

ie in this thread, you could start by asking a question, then let a few people post as now to bias the thread, and then post your own view.

That would be extremely helpful to us all no doubt. I dont think any of us mean anymore than that-- since this is all about sharing info in one of the few places we honestly can do so.

Best of luck

My impressions of UVA: strong, excellent clinical program, can get into most any fellowship you desire, nice people, clean place to live, but Charlottesville is somewhat removed and homogenous... people respectfully agree or disagree?

I think that this program in terms of competitiveness can rival most any program in the country -- agree or disagree?

I was impressed with UVA. I would rank it highly if it were in a better city. I've been contacted 4 times in the last week! I think their recruiting efforts are working on me. I'll rank them higher than I originally thought.

dang, four times in the last week? syrinx! youse gotsa jump on that. thats super awesome. i will say that a program saying the magical words "we're very excited about you and hope you will consider us as we are considering you" does push one in the direction of that program. in the end, we all want to match with who wants us. give/give.
okay, sorry, this post was more of a comment than saying anything really important. enough of me.
