UVa

Happiest group of residents I saw on the interview trail. It was my last stop too... Good place to live & raise a family and own a home. I was impressed w/ the call system of delayed relief, albeit a bit complex... I hadn't seriously considered the program but impressed overall, would be in my top 5.

I didn't interview there but I have only heard glowing remarks about UVa from Chairs to residents to students. Honestly, not one bad thing and I have heard a lot of people talking about Virginia, so at least the reputation seems solid.

I spent a month at UVa on an extramural and thought the place was fantastic. By far the biggest selling points are the people and the place. Charlottesville has been rated as the number 1 place to live in the U.S. (2004) and the residents and faculty get along better than anywhere else I've visited (and not just on the interview day!).

I think that the hospital itself is not quite as nice as some of the others in the Southeast, but so be it. An OR is an OR is an OR.

Maybe not a Wake or Duke in national recognition, but the program has everything else, including a fabulous intern year which includes 6 months of anesthesia.

😳
