Hey all,

Just wanted to share with my fellow classmates that the word on the streets is that we got a class full of overachievers this year. Which makes the internship competition quite fierce. So yeah, congrats to all those who got accepted, and goodluck to the rest of us who are still interviewing in the next couple of days.

Me, had one interview with Children's yesterday and going back this morning for a second interview with the big cheese. I think they're interviewing about 20-some people, for only 3 spots.... yikes.

How did your Harborview interview go? Good luck with that second Children's interview!

Yeah, I know. I have contacted 5 places and only 1 responded and I didn't get it. Good luck at Children's.
:luck: :luck: :luck:

Hey Bao!
Congrats on a second interview!!! I'll be flying up tomorrow for my Friday interview. I'm interviewing at Northwest in the morning, then going over to Children's right after. Who's the big cheese btw??

Do you mind me asking what type of questions they asked? Goodluck today!

Thanks!

The "big cheese" was Steve Wanaka, he's the director of pharmacy. So yeah, first interview was with Sharon Lu (supposed to have been with Sharon and Tom but Tom couldn't make it)

Types of questions, kinda the same as for the pharmacy school interview: why did you choose to be a pharmacist, why did you apply to Children's. Talked about the schedule and commitment time (4yrs program, work every other weekend during school year, expect to work some nights and weekends.) Making sure this is what we want. The types of duties expected from interns. Talked about diversity, how you've demonstrated or increased diversity awareness. Let's see what else... it was a pretty thorough interview I think, both were a little over an hour long. There's the generic "tell me about yourself" questions, and how well your work with others, things like that. Oh and they do expect us to start asap. They asked if I already submitted my application for intern license and made sure that was well underway and asked when is the earliest I would be able to start. Also, I was a bit surprised how they strongly encouraged/expect us to commnute (via bus) to work, since parking is very limited. So that's another thing to think of when looking for apartments. Make sure it's on/near a bus route.

As for Harborview, the interview was so-so, wasn't too confident that I "sold" myself enough, and sure enough I didn't get that internship. Didn't get Swedish either. But location wise, and opportunities wise, Children's is a really really nice place. So crossing my fingers on that one. Good luck with your interview friday Mel!

Thanks Bao!

I'm interviewing w/ Steve Wanaka first- since I have the last interview slot, I guess. I guess i'm out for Children's anway- since I won't be able to start until July. Has anyone heard back from Northwest?

Had my very first intern interview at Northwest today...it is a loooong commute from my place here in Redmond...took me forever to get there. Other than that...the people there seemed nice. I had pretty much the same questions as Bao had for Children's...
I just wish I had started the intern hunt sooner...now I have to cross my fingers and wait for NW to get back to me...

=),

I got Children's internship. =) Mr. Wanaka just called me on my cell phone to congratulate me. So now I guess I just got to figure out housing.
