Is UW (if I were to memorize all their explanations) enough to pass the MCQs on Step 3? Everyone seems to think UW is the best resource out there in terms of a question bank.

I am afraid I have to disagree. No real person thinks it is the best resource. Best way to get candid opinion is to ask your friends who took the exam they will tell you honestly - 90% of questions are not even similar to topics that uw qbank discusses. It has completely neglected office topics. And uw software has completely messed up ccs approaches with "report time" errors.
The "everyone" that you mentioned are hardcore, unethical UW promoters as you can see from their profiles that they have been on these forums for many years claiming that uw is the best source. If you dare to contradict it, they will attack you with sharp words. It is very immoral and sad because we are not getting honest opinion. So, I urge you to check with your colleagues and friends that took the exam already. My first experience with uw was very distasteful and gave me an impression of being cheated by these immoral marketing.

Anyway, to give you the facts, Kaplan has made a lot of changes to Step 3 Q bank after they released MTB. I am doing kaplan and the questions match NBME type far better than UW. It is ironical that Kaplan is charging only $79 for a better qbank where as UW charges huge amounts for every renewal.

Haresh has 37 posts about how he failed using Uworld. Don't listen to him. He is angry he failed. There are plenty of others who say that Uworld is enough, and that they did well using it.

is Uworld sufficient to pass step 3? Yes. Yes if. IF you have a strong foundation. By that I mean you did well on Step 2 and are in a residency where you use clinical reasoning. That means any internship that is not pathology.

The problem is that books for step 3 suck. Step 3 doesn't matter, so sales are low. Sales are low, people dont spend time or effort on developing products. Sorry. You can read First Aid or Master the Boards Step 3, you can get a little bit of the info, but it is more the doing the questions then the facts that will get you scoring highly.

Haresh hates this even more than my endorsement for teh MCQ section, but i cannot stress enough DOING the CSS cases. Getting the computer system to do what you want it to do is crucial. Sometimes, thats hard. I wanted a surgeon to do an exlap, and spent 5 minutes learning what to type in to get it done... "consult surgery" came back as "continue medical management" and "ex-lap" wasn't understood. Only when I typed in Exploratory Laparatomy, the case ended (meaning that I had won).

So, bottom line, UWorld is HUGE for passing Step 3. You can read books if you are struggling or have struggled on Steps 1 and 2.

Overactive brain has 1070 posts arguing in favor of UW over the past three years. Simple logic is that you do not work on forum for 3 years regularly and passionately unless you are being paid by UW . If he is a doctor this person would have already completed his residency and will not be working for pennies that UW pays him. Look the way he uses CAPS when he types HUGE etc just to emphasize his advertisement... sickening! Do not fall for these tricks. Ask your colleagues and real friends that have already taken step 3 if UW really helped...............NOT AT ALL! Then why all this hype?...Yes, the hype is the basis on which UW has built it's business. It pays unethical people to promote its courses with false promises.

About UW critical errors , as an example; Overactive brain agrees that UW does not accept urgent exploratory lap..if you order it , it schedules surgery after 24 hrs...is that software ******ed to schedule an emergency surgery after 24 hours? Does that software understand any critical care aspects? If these are not even addressed at basic level, how will they convey correct message to the person who is practicing? If the person that practices UW get's oriented to these dangerous mistakes, is not it more likely that he will fail?

I assure you that I do not work for USMLE World. UW was all that I used to study for step 3 over a three week period and I scored a 236. I would say 99% of my american graduate friends only used USMLE World and everyone passed. I attempted to read Crush Step 3, but it was worthless. As long as your background is strong, UW should suffice.

I have been very active in the Step1 and Step2 threads and I would say overactive's advice is usually pretty spot on. I only just uworld for step2 (wished I did same for step 1 - did both Kaplan and uworld), and I plan on only using uworld for step3.

All my intern friends pretty much same thing. Also, this is assuming you are an amg and in a non-path field.

Nothing suspicious. USMLEWORLD is involving in deceptive advertising processes and cheating people . Anyone who is trying to publicize the truth is being attacked by hired workers. Most suspicious issue is how come these so-called senior doctors work on forum for 3 + years? Can anyone explain this? Overcative brain and some of the hardcore UW promoters are here on the forum for 3 years PLUS? Do they require that long to apss the exams? They have no jobs? Not in residencies? Are these people here only to say UW is the only material repeatedly to anyone who seeks advise? It is not even that, they try to put others down and make fun of their opinions when they dare to expose UW?
UW has used these deceptive promoters for many years. It is now charging $99 for 1 month subscription more for every month renewal...it is ripping people off.
Kaplan on other hand $79 and until one's test, kaplan charging only $199.
In order to promote their highly priced Q banks , UW is involving in bad business. That is all I can say!

One example of UW's deceit is to create a CCS software that has so many errors and the one that not even resemble the case times and trying to deceive people claiming that it is exactly similar to Exam software. By promoting these products , UW is contributing to the failure of certain people who blindly follow the errors on their software! I think it is very fair to sue this company for claiming that their software exactly resembles exam software!

NKJN, oh yes that is why you have three posts, you open a new account and spent your entire day to write in support of UW. Why do not you just give a honest advice to people here to practice cases on official primum software rather than repeatedly endorsing a flawed software? With the new changes that are about to come in February, the UW is even more worthless, are you still going to promote it?
I am not against UW but there are many other courses out there but people are being improperly referred to this flawed software
