Hey guys - I received an e-mail notifying me of my acceptance to UW-Madison, woohoo! But the information in the e-mail is a little vague to me. They are requesting a deposit and a signed admissions document by January 17th, but it's unclear to me whether that is like an initial deposit to hold my spot, or a final decision so I will have to decline any other interviews or acceptances I may receive... I have 2 interviews after that deadline at other schools I'm also really interested in so I'm hoping it's the first option, but it sounds to me like the latter. Anyone else hear back from Madison or have more info on this? Any help would be really appreciated! 🙂

It seems to me like the first option. Most schools require a deposit and paperwork to know you want the spot they offered you but they also cannot stop you from looking at other schools even after you send those in. Most likely if you interview at one of the other schools and prefer there, if you get in, you would just have to notify Madison you changed your mind and most likely lose your deposit money. I am not from UW Madison but that’s how most of these typically work.

Thanks for your reply - after double checking with PTCAS and Madison, they did confirm this is the case. I haven't seen a school yet that phrased it the way Madison did, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't signing my life away just yet!
