Hey guys!

This could extend to PTs Practicing in Wa also if you got educated there....

Do they teach spinal manipulation to y’all even though PTs lost that right in the state?

Just something I was curious about, thanks!

(Former wa resident, would love to go back one day but the laws there don’t seem so great for OP ortho folks)

I did not attend either of those schools but almost went to both of them and practice here in Washington State, the short answer is yes, you will learn spinal manipulation. I believe it is required for all DPT programs to teach it on some level. Now how much exposure and practice to it you will get depends on your clinicals. All Washington state PTs can manipulate the spine but you need a special endorsement to perform grade V spinal manipulations. If you go out of state for your clinical rotations it won't be an issue, if you find a clinic where the PTs have their endorsement you will be fine. Unfortunately, not many PTs have been able to get the endorsement. I have mine thankfully but some of the requirements make it difficult for most therapists to get one. Its incredibly annoying that one is required at all...
